Federal- Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Affordable Battery Storage Through Federal Support
The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program helps eligible households, businesses and community organisations reduce the upfront cost of installing eligible battery storage systems. The program supports batteries from 5 kWh to 100 kWh and is designed to make it easier to store excess solar energy, reduce electricity costs and improve energy independence. Eligible systems must meet the program’s requirements, including approved battery and installer requirements
Key Features :
- Government Battery Discount – Eligible households and small businesses can receive a discount on qualifying small-scale battery installations.
- Around 30% Support – The program is designed to provide around a 30% discount on eligible battery systems, subject to program rules and battery size.
- New or Existing Solar – Eligible batteries can be connected to a new or existing rooftop solar PV system.
- Store Excess Solar Energy – Store surplus daytime solar power and use it when energy is needed, including at night.
- Reduced Energy Costs – Using stored solar energy can reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the grid.
- Eligible Battery Requirements – Eligible systems generally need to meet capacity, approved-product, safety and installer requirements under the SRES
